8.5x18 wheels on an '89 200q...



FYI, I spent some time test-fitting the 8.5x18 wheels I mentioned yesterday
... unfortunately, with 235/35-18 Pirelli P-Zeros on them, they won't fit up
front if you insist upon not flaring the fenders and/or being able to use
full steering lock.  No way, no how ... that said, it's possible 225/35-18s
may fit instead but I'd be concerned about the extremely short sidewalls
(78mm!) for daily-driver use.  In the rear, the tires rubbed on the fender
lips ever-so-slightly so they'd have to be rolled as well.  On the other
hand, if you are starting with a '91 200q and already have flared fenders,
then you'd probably have no problems fitting them whatsoever ... oh, well.
Next weekend, just for grins and giggles, I plan to try them on my Ur-Q...  :^)
