Subject: accelerator pedal breaks off on 92 100S

I have a 92 100S. The flexible plastic that holds the accelerator pedal to the

metal linkage piece broke, leaving the plastic pedal on the floor. Car is

still drivable using the metal piece as the foot contact point, but I suppose

I'll have to buy a new pedal assembly to fix it to original condition. Any

other Audi Quattro list people have this problem?

Pretty common. New pedal assembly isn't too expensive, but I used a drill and
a large paper clip to repair the old one. Has worked fine for 20k miles, and
takes less than 5 minutes. Drill a hole through the bottom of the cover that
fell off, and a matching one through the pedal assembly, and stick the
straightened paper clip through; bend the ends down behind the pedal. Saves
you enough to buy the trick programmable wiper relay from VW.
