Cooling System Crusties - Cause Identified, Fix Needed

Hi All:

Some of the more knowledgable listers informed me that the three way/upper
radiator hose has a tendency to leak internally at the union and the
coolant wicks along the webbing resulting in crusties.  I may be too
picky for an engine with 252K miles but this is driving me nuts.

Any ideas/sources for a replacement hose manufactured to stricter standards
or perhaps a $5 MacGyver solution.
