RE: copper crush washer vs aluminum

Never one to inject any FUD into a debate, but when I replaced the thermostat in the 84 4KQ RR car the alumininium thermostat housing totally disintegrated in my hands as I removed it. In the harsh and salty New England environment even relatively large alumininium parts can definitely be destroyed by corrosion. Hopefully one would change the oil frequently enough that corrosion of the oil pan drain plug sealing washer would be detected prior to catastrophic failure. I use copper only....

Jim- I use them all the time without difficulty. Those postulating galvanic corosion problems have over active imaginations IMHO.
