RE: copper crush washer vs aluminum



... I don't think the discussion was about galvanic degradation problems ...
the concern was about compressing an Al (you may spell as you prefer :)
washer to an Al oil pan could cause the two to weld, resulting in surface
galling when removing the washer.  While I don't have the issue on any of my
cars, my bike has Al for both the oil pan and the tranny and rear drive
casings ... and every time I replace the vital fluids I have used Al crush
washers ... from the BMW dealer with no problems.
