I've got a 1993 90, which shares some of the features found on your A6,
the remote locking being one of them.

This is typical of dying batteries in the key. You should be able to find
replacements at the supermarket, watch repair shop or photography shop for
quite a bit less money.

It it a 5spd or a slushbox? What type of driving? Mine's a 5spd (same engine
as your A6, though probably a lighter car) and lately, in heavy city
stop-and-go
I haven't bettered 15mpg. In more suburban driving, I'm usually in the 18-20mpg
range. I've seen as much as 27mpg on the highway...

I'm trying to decide, however, if my very low milage is indicative of a
problem. If I don't see an improvement to around 18 or so in suburban work,
I'll suspect trouble...

Since you're still under warantee, you should take it in and complain.

No problem!
