Fool Filtering

Friends, I replace dht fool filter in my '90 200 last night, for two 
reasons:  

1)  95K on original filter...(don't start wit' me!!!)
2)  Faint hopes fuel pump would be quieter (Hah! Knew better...)

Noted that the threads on the new and old filters wer a match, 
but the new filter came with a brass fitting on the inlet side, 
which seemed to have no other purpose than a 1" extension.  My 
hoses fit best without it, so I removed it - no leaks after 
firing up, so all seems well.

The parts numbers are cryptic on this replacement.  I noted 
that the OEM part numbers were:

Bosch -
0450 905 145
VW- 
443 133 511

New part number:
893 133 511  (seemed encouraging...)
0450 905 133 015

Be darned if I can make heads or tails out of this.  I just put the 
darn thing on, the car runs, and no leaks.  I'm happy.
