Re: New subscriber w/87 5000SQ
$90??? For Vinyl??? Aha. I replaced the shift boot of my Audi '91 90
(manual trans) two months ago. I don't know if the boot of the 5000 is
the same, but mine was made of 4 vinyl pieces which were sewn
together, a plastic frame at the bottom and a plastic knob on top. I
considered the Audi part to be expensive, but hadn't asked. $90,
madness.
I bought some thin black leather (glove leather) from a leather store,
disassembled the plastic parts and opened the seams. Then I gave it to
my mother to sew a new one with the old vinyl parts as a model.
Looks better than the original.
