checking VIN #

Howdy Gang:
    OK, this morning the Pearl 90q20v went to the dealer (a VW/Audi dealer I 
have a good relationship with) for a used car check out. 
    I have a "memory" of someone/or/some where on the net a thread about calling 
Audi (?) NA and checking out the VIN number for info on the car. 
    I'll let the group know how the car check out.
