1998 a4 understeers




Tire pressures. Try more in front and less in the rear.
Dampers. Try stiffer in the rear. (Koni adjustables are ideal for this!)
Wheels. Try 1" larger width in front Vs in rear. (don't laugh, I've seen this done with success)
Weight distribution. Trade that 2.8 in on a 1.8T.   :)

This is related to the fact that the A4 is an AWD car and the M3 is RWD
drive.  We are currently debating this very issue (the torsen thread),
particularly in relation to cornering where the power distribution changes
can cause sudden fluctuations of oversteer and understeer (O or U). 

Of course, the fact that you opted for the 2.8 does not help, since it
adds weight to the front... ;-)
