Re: Koni sport advice
shocks are set one turn out from hard. If you hit a bump hard in my car
your toung better not be between your teeth. Big bumps hit very hard.
If you have stiff springs you should set the shocks softer. I am
uhh, you got that backwards. Stiffer springs need stiffer shocks,
softer springs need softer shocks.
leaving my car this stiff in front. The rears are 2.5 turns from full
stiff but I plan on making it 2 or 1.5 turns from stiff because I dont
have a rear roll bar and around bumpy corners the rear feels a little
bouncey.
Bouncey or Jittery. IF you hop around corners your shocks are too stiff
for the springs. I believe!?!? If you go stiffer on the struts you may
end up hopping more. Roll bar should make hop worse as well depending on
size of bumps. Stiffer rear or adding a roll bar should balance the car
with more Over Steer though. Can make braking interesting though if not
done right.
If you have big rims they could get bent easy with sus. set
too stiff.
Very true. Where I live, 15" with 205/50-15 seems to be about the
lowest you can safely go unless you have Compomotive Rally wheels or
something similar. I run 44 psi in front and still manage to bend about 1
wheel a year with our wonderful North Idaho Roads. Oh well.
IF I am wrong on my obove info, anyone please feel free to correct
me. For anyone intersted, the latest ...Grass Roots Motorsports... has
a great article on shocks and how they work, effect car, how to tell if
too stiff/soft for car/springs etc. The cover has an 84'-96' style
Corvette going around a corner on an AutoX track. L8R
