More confirmation of suspicions

Reading further in my Torsens in Racing post of 2-26-98 I find this somewhat
more enlightening, given the Blomqvist quote of my last post:

-------------------------------
* Audi Sport Quattro Road Test CAR SOUTH AFRICA Jan '87
Testing the Group A (outlawed "B" in europe, but not S.A.) Sport quattro
Safari Rally car.
- "Although a variable transmission torque split was introduced on the S1,
the car that Mortimer will use this year features the fixed 50-50 front/rear
torque split and full time four-wheel drive system that was used in the
previous Quattro."

<Which would mean Center diff locked at 50/50, and LSD rear, but read VTTS to
mean exactly Torsen>
------------------------------------------
Again, Dave, I might remind you, that your latest research is confirming what
I posted months ago.

And now it's a revelation? And confirmation of torsen operation from
Chocholek. We are making progress when we agree. Guess it takes more than my
research. How 'bout finding out when EXACTLY it was used. We know when audi
tried to use it. And can see that it wasn't a smashing success (it was
successful at smashing"), cuz later rally cars specifically didn't have it,
including Mortimers above. Wonder why?
