Re: B4 FWD or B3 AWD?

Hi all,

Thanks to all of you who replied to my posting concerning the choice
between an identically-priced 87 90q 10v and 92 80 2.0 FWD.
Had a look at the 80- it turned out not to be the nice 115hp I4 2.0E, but
the nobody-wants-it 90hp 2.0- the engine everyone says is inferior to my
1.8S. And... everyone's right. It is slower than my 1.8, less flexible(?)
and uses more fuel. Other downsides: the car was white, and an 80 looks
really cheap in that, and the interior was base-spec no-frills stuff with
horrendous green cloth. It was indeed blemish-free, and looked very good
for its age. So, the only advantages of owning this car would be its lower
mileage and larger trunk with fold-down rear seat (a major plus when you're
used to the minimal space in my 80) and the fact that it's a relatively
young car.
Not my idea of fun motoring, though, so I hope I'll have more luck tomorrow
with the 90q in Friesland.

I fettled the old 80 a bit- gave it a wash, cleaned the bumpers (lots of
black plastic on an 80) and cleaned the dust off the dash (when did I last
clean the interior? Was it a year ago, or two?) to make it look its best at
trade-in time.

I'll keep you posted...

Tom
