Bought me a q!

Hi all,

When I set eyes on it, my mind was almost made up: this had to be my next
car. I didn't drive 220 miles in a hot car (25 C here!) for nothing.
So, as of next Saturday, I'll be driving a 1987 90 quattro 10v, Tizian red
metallic (OK, so now no-one's gonna notice that I've bought a new car!),
164k km, coffee-coloured Serret velour interior with sports seats and ski
bag, Ronal R8s in 15" with as-new 195/50 Pirelli P5000 Dragos
(directional), glass sunroof, heated seats, tow hitch, mudflaps (gotta lose
these!) map reading lights, engine compartment light, H4/H1 headlights with
headlight washers and heated door mirrors. Cool car. It looked like it had
been treated very well all through its life, and the interior looks like
new.
It drives perfectly, needs a new exhaust within the next 6 months, one door
mirror is defective (wiring?), it needs front subframe bushes and the fuel
pump is getting slightly noisy, but that's about it. The price was right,
as was his trade-in offer, so the deal was made. It comes with a year's
inspection and 3 months warranty on engine, transmission and driveline.

After my 90hp 1.8, this car is FAST. The problem is, you don't really
notice you're going so fast. Going down the on-ramp, I asked my brother to
guess our speed. He told me '80 km/h' and was very surprised to hear that
we were actually doing 140. Very nice car, very quiet and comfortable, but
still handles very sharply. Even my Nissan Primera-driving brother had to
agree that this is a great car.

So from now I'll be saving all mail regarding ABS stuff, fuel pumps etc...
Celebrated the whole affair with a few cold La Chouffe beers at the local
pub.

PS Guess I'll need a different workshop manual now, as my 80's Olyslager
covers nothing of the AWD stuff. Are Bentleys expensive for these cars?
Anyone have a used one for sale? It's the 'new' model which arrived in the
US in 1988.
