OK, I'll bite - what's a 'repeater'? A turn signal?

There is no official correct postion, AFAIK. Repeaters were aftermarket
items for most cars, except for the countries where they were mandatory.
The UK is not among those, I think.
Some countries dictate the requirements for visibility, and thus the
position for repeaters.
Only the late-model UrQs had repeaters mounted as standard on the front
wings (or actually on the front bumper), and I think some V8s had them, too.
The repeaters used were very similar to '84-92 Golf items, if not identical.
