wheels/tires for '98 A6: advice, please

I'm about to buy a 1998 A6 (without quattro), with the option of 15" and
!6" wheels. Tires:

195/65 R 15 H-speed rated all-season radials; or
205/55 R 16 H-speed rated all-season radials.

The brochure says: "Choose the standard 15" wheels for the smoother ride of
a touring sedan or the performance 16" wheels for a tighter road feel."

Will this wheel and tire difference make a really significant difference in
feel/performance? What about road noise?
