think that since the engine cannot run very well without the electronic
control (I know the QTC will sputter and die pretty quickly) I wouldn't have
a problem if someone wanted to consider the system "electronic" ... all in
all to me I guess I wouldn't have a problem with either designation ... it
seems to me that its picking nits to think that a solenoid controlled valve
that proportions fuel to an intake port is considered different than an
electronically controlled valve that is determining the fuel proportioning
to all intake ports in common.
How about calling both of them electro-mechanical FI systems ... all but the
old strictly mechanical CIS system of course ...

According to the Bentley for the 4000 and 5000 series cars CIS-E is very
similar to CIS, where the mixture is controlled by a current through an
electro-hydraulic actuator. This actuator replaces both the proportioning
valve and the Control Pressure/Warmup Regulator in the earlier CIS-Lambda
system.
