'86CGT Power Window Problems

Pass window doing the grinding thing again. Took it apart and found that the plastic cowling where the cable enters the motor are broken as well as the plastic fingers where the two meet, resulting in a slightly longer cable.

Moved one end to the next finger which I'll call the Audi "spare" pulled the spring back attached a small pipe clamp to hold in place. The other end having no "spare" I just pulled the spring back, clamped it and dumped a good portion of the krazy stuff to help hold in place.

Re-wound the cable on the wheel, liberal coating of the white stuff, put the cover back on and re-installed.

Works for now but doesn't sound healthy - kinky cable. Called the dealer $495.00 - won't sell just the cable assembly - must buy the whole 9 yards.

Question - has anyone relined the casing with a new cable - if so what's the procedure or is better to find a used assembly and if so will a 4000 fit or must it be out of a CGT.

Thanks
Don
