Radiator fan not running when AC is on

Now that hot weather has hit the midwest I tried out the AC in the
4kcsq I bought in November.  At speed the AC work fine but the fan
only comes on when the engine temp rises.  I know the answer is in my
Bentley somewhere but I thought I  might get a more complete answer
from someone who has BTDT.
