I'll tell you in a week or two.  I took mine to the best welder at
Cadillac's prototype buildup shop.  He thinks it won't be too bad since it
is a very high quality steel.  He fired up his TIG to see how the material
melted to make this determination.  He still recommended all the prep
tricks for cast though.  Drill 1/4" holes at the ends of the cracks and
grind a chamfer on each side of the crack all along the crack.
