Replaced fuel pump in '90 100 a few weekends ago.  Don't know whether
the sending units are the same, but while I had mine out, I cleaned up
the contacts (both the graduated lines on the receiver end as well as
the contact point) with a pencil eraser.  My guage was not
malfunctioning up to then to my knowlege; but it looked very
straightforward (float, arm, contacts, wires and head).
