Hi Charlie;

    I had this problem on my '86 5ktq after the dealer replaced the check
valve. The fuel guage would stick at 1/4 or 1/2 full. I had to take it back
3 times before they got it working. I think the clearances are tight for the
sender float and if the sender unit is rotated too far one way or the other
the float hangs up. I just had the sender unit out of my '91 200q today and
indexed the location before I removed it, but I noticed that there is a
cutout on the mounting plate that was indexed against one of the lock pins.
I assume this is the factory index.
    You don't say what kind of problems you are having, but rotating the top
plate slightly one way or the other may free the float if it is touching
something inside.
