Is '87 5kcs(t)q Calif. emissions?

As I've been looking for a nice 5kcs(t)q, I've decided that half of the
examples in the Bay Area have Oregon plates. I don't know if there are any
left in Oregon, but it must have been a popular place for them. This
present a question: were these cars California equipped? If not, it will
cost me $300 to pay the "smog impact fee" to register one here. And I'll
take that much off of any offer I make.

The $300 fee (or extortion, as some people consider it) is apparently
being challenged in the state courts and in the legislature, but it's not
gone yet. The state laws themselves suggest that any car that passes CA's
standards shouldn't have to pay it, but the DMV seems to charge everybody.
I'm sure they consider the absence of a device non-compliance, regardless
of the measured HC, CO, and NOx output.

I checked a friend's 5kcsq (from Oregon, of course) and I didn't find an
emissions sticker under the hood. I've asked the seller of another one
(from Oregon) to check hers, but I haven't heard back yet.

If you know if these were all 50-state cars or if you happen to see the
emissions sticker under your hood, I'd appreciate hearing from you. (Maybe
I should just go ahead and get the Bentley, even before buying a car.
Sounds like I'll need it soon enough.)
