Quirky quattro questions

Hi all. Well the car is almost running perfectly, just a few minor
problems. The overheating problem turned out to be the fan not coming on
strong enough. Seems there is a short in the motor- I messed around with it
and it seems to be internal wiring at the connectors, I ended up whacking
it w/ a big wrench and it works fine now. Are these fan motors easy to
replace? Also, hot air is coming out of the defrost vents even when the
slide is all the way to the cool side- cool air is coming out the side
vents however. Is this easy to remedy? Finally, the after-run circuit
doesn't seem to be working. The fan doesn't stay on after the key is shut
off- even when the temp is pretty high. How does this work? Is there an
easy way to wire the fan to the battery? Any thoughts would be greatly
appreciated.

Sincerely,
