Fwd: VW synchro drive systems
Not a directly related tor$en thread, but certainly drive train related.
Anyone care to throw out their two cents in regard to quattro / syncro history? I defintely recommend you take a peek at his page (add h to nottingam...nottingham.ac.uk) some interesting pictures of an interesting vehicle!
So...was the Iltis using the same system? My (generalised) understanding was that quattro driveline was developed "in house" so to speak, but that the Daimler conglomerate system was used on some forms of the syncro.

Could I point out a glaring mistake in your information about the VW 4WD
system. The system was NOT created by VAG but in fact all VW 4WD systems
are made by Daimler Steyr Puch in Graz Austria and not By Vw at all.
