Yes,there is enough clearanse. BTDT.

You don't even have to separate the control arm from the strut (only
true for 5-spd tranny).Just unscrew the big axle nut, remove inner CV
joint heat shield,
unscrew the triple-square bolts that hold inner CV joint to the
transmission flange,
slide the driveshaft upwards alongside the transmission and pry out
stub
axle from the hub. Takes 10 minutes with the right tools.
