I had the chin spoiler (german TUV approved polyurethane, not fiberglass
copy), and found it cuts down on ground clearance a bit, especially going
into/out of driveways, etc.

Steering wheel you'd look at, touch, use every time you're in the car; the
spoiler you'd only see coming and going from the car.

Me, I'd advocate saving your $$$ towards a driving school, such as those held
by the quattro club.  Be the best $$$ you've ever spent on a performance item
for your car; best yet, it's transferable car to car, and doesn't get stolen
or trashed in an accident!
