At the suggestion of Mike Hopton I jacked up the front of the
UrQ and found that I could turn the springs a little in their
perches. This is definitely the twanging noise I'm hearing. Can
anyone else confirm that there may be a need to shim the
Billsteins in the strut tube to ensure that they are installed
securely and don't move up and down slightly in the tube?

I've heard that in using shorter length springs, mechanics often recommend
using heavy duty tie wraps or wire to hold each end of the spring to the
perch. This prevents the spring from popping off the mount when the car is on
a lift, or airborn/wheel lift/full suspension travel. You may need to drill
small holes in the perch to run the tie wraps etc. through. Haven't BTDT,
though.
