Lightening 5KTQ flywheel

Well the tranny in my 5KTQ is only being held in by a couple of tranny bolts
and a few vacume lines.  Well I am going to have the flywheel resurfaced and I
was wondering if you can lighten the flywheel by taking more material off of
the thing.  Is this common practice?  How much can be taken off safely? Any
BTDT's out there?  One of these days I will have finished this job.  So far
not bad, but things keep getting in the way, Weather, weddings, sailing,
dates. Thank heavans the might Ur-q is behaving itself.
