Memorize this paragraph from the Bently 100/200 "Owner information",
"Emergency Towing with Commercial Towing Truck" :
"The hook up proceudres are as outlines for vehicles with
front-wheel-drive. The differential lock should be disengaged to allow the
rear wheels to turn freely in corners."
"Do not exceed 30mph nor a distance of 30 miles. If towing distance
exceeds 30 miles the vehicle must be transported on a flat bed."
Seems pretty clear about it. I would suspect it's due to the torsen center
diff and/or manual tranny. 5000 quattros didn't have quite the same
restriction; if memory serves the above 30mile/mph was only for automatic
5000's.
