Thanks to all who responded. Mom's panzerwagon was promptly picked up by the dealer when they were called. When mom returns to town she should be pleased- although she wasn't here when the problem materialized.
 For those who wondered, it's a '98 with old style body- looks quite like the two Hoppenized S6 avants that live here, although it still has body color (silver) mirrors. One silver S6 has yellow mirrors, while the other has red. Very cool, IMHO. My wife agrees, and opined last night that were she to purchase a new one, she'd paint the mirrors a new color every so often!
