RE: can audis/vws take v.high mileage??

Hello again
Thanks for the reply u gave - gives me abit more confidence buy high
mileage car. Went to look at an 80 sport today. - add said: very good
condition well maintained 119k. asking 1295 gbp. it looked very good
indeed - no rust, good paintwork, no dents , fairly worn interior but
what u would expect really. Took it for a spin - it started ok,starter
motor was a bit slow perhaps, but it started and u could hear the
tappets clicking. It didn't idle properly and would stall if u let
your foot off gas. once it was warm it wouldn't stall but still idled
odly. got out the car and had a look for smoke - a bit of bluish smoke
when idleing and reved hard. Took it for a very hard thrash and pulled
in again , got out and had a look and it did seem to be auite smokey.
Pulled away and u could see blue smoke looking behind at full throttle
and revs- is it knackered? tappets didn't seem to go away much aswell
even when hot. apart from that I was impressed but don't think it
sould smoke that  much - what do u think?

Also, the oil pressure seemed to stak at 5 bar ( top of scale) all the
time - is this right?
