In my poor old Coupe GT, this is the only way I can
shift! (Still looking for an 84-vintage 093 tranny)...

However, I think your distinction between the up and
downshift is artificial, since I usually blip the throttle
on the upshift as well. Helps prevent the exhaust from
banging the floorboards (I need a left-front motor mount, too).

But very well described, Igor! Your nine years here have 
brought you a better mastery of English than many natives!
