USAA insurance (No Q content)
<<<USAA is not necessarily the cheapest. I was able to ind a better rate
through my local State Farm agent. I got seriously pissed off at USAA and
dropped all my insurance with them after they raised my rates significantly
after my divorce. I had the defensive driving, the safe driver award from
the state, no tickets, only one claim for about $300 in a span of 10 years,
and the b&^%ards raised my rates. I argued with them _at length_ to no
avail. They can rot for all I care.>>>>
I was in exactly the same boat. Divorce, then rates shot up
__substantially__. I argued, etc also to no avail. However, I also checked
around and not even Geico (those communist bas... well that's another
discussion) could beat their rates. USAA did tell me, however, that
in some situations and regions, other agencies might be lower.
Having lived in NC, CT, GA, SC, MD, and WI in the past 10 years
(no, I'm not in the witness protection program ;-) ) and been unmarried,
married, legally separated, divorced, and now remarried, under and
over 30, no one's beat their rates yet (not even counting the dividends
paid periodically) , automotive or homeowners.
(Disclaimer: there are some firms better on collector-car rates.)
Even after I plowed my Cadillac Allante through a couple of small Japanese
cars on the DC beltway (long story, my fault), my rates went up very little...
and that was not an inexpensive accident. Had a check in 2 days, too.
Gave me more than the car was worth, but didn't total it. I sold the car
"as is" with a clear (non-salvage title) and pocketed the check.
<<< As far as the dividends, yes they do
give out on occasion and I actually received them long after I told them to
piss off. The dividends don't ever amount to much, but it buys a few beers.>>
I keep 8 cars insured. My dividend checks are substantial.
