Audi Client Advocate/repair history
A few weeks ago I posted about the airbag warning light in my '91 200q,
which remains lit for more than 2 minutes after each startup (10 seconds is
the specified norm). This situation evidently developed after the car had
the airbag recall work done. The PO's dealer (Morong-Falmouth, Falmouth ME)
looked at it, but had no solution.
So I called Audi 1-800-822-2834 Client Relations to enquire. At the other
end of the line was Amanda, my Audi Client Advocate du jour. I told her the
VIN and explained the airbag symptom. She tried, but was unable to connect
me to the Audi Safety rep for my district at that moment. She said that he
would soon call me back. [I'm waiting (24 hrs and counting).]
But anyway, while I was chatting with Amanda, I asked if she at that moment
had the history for my vehicle on her computer screen. Yes, she replied.
Well, would it be much trouble to tell me the dealer repair codes listed
for my vehicle? No trouble she said, and several minutes later I had a
complete list of dates and work codes for my '91 200q. Twenty
items--including _two_ radios replaced under warranty and also code 4890,
which is "power steering gear". Does that mean the whole rack was replaced,
I wonder?
I knew the repair history could be obtained through any Audi dealer, but it
appears possible to access the same information directly by phoning Client
Relations.
