  INGOLSTADT, Germany (AP) - Volkswagen subsidiary Audi AG and Lamborghini SpA
have signed a letter of intent for Audi to acquire the Italian sportscar
maker, both companies said today.
 
 Details of the deal will be finished in the next few weeks, the companies
said. Lamborghini likely will be integrated as foreign subsidiary in the
Ingolstadt-based group, they said.
 
 Audi also has been in negotiations with Vickers PLC's Cosworth unit. On June
4, Vickers agreed to sell its high-performance engine maker to Audi.
