Re: Stabilant22 alternative?

I know, I know...many long timers will say you have heard me say this before.
A lower cost, more easily obtainable, and perhaps even better alternative to
Stabilant does exist. The following products are all available from Caig
Laboratories, Inc. (http//www.caig.com).

DeoxIT--the red stuff, works *very well* at cleaning and restoring contacts.

PreservIT--the blue stuff, use this for connector presevation after cleaning
with "the red stuff"

ProGold--I have yet to try this stuff (or for that mater the Cailube MCL for
moving contacts) but from everything I have read in Caig's propaganda it
sounds like it outdoes the hightly touted Stabilant in every way. The two
"basic" products are so good I have not found need to experiment with the new
formulations Caig has released. I know other listers have tried and swear by
ProGold.

Disclaimers--again, I have no affiliation what-so-ever with these folks...I am
just a very satisfied customer who has used these products as a professional
consumer electronic repair technician since I first heard about it in about
1983 (and that was from a Sales Rep for Sound Technology test equipment who
also had no affiliation). I make no claims this stuff is better than
Stabilant, but I do know I am very picky when it comes to results from these
types of products so I can't imagine it is any worse. My ability to maintain
customer satisfaction relies on them. I have yet to be shown a better product
for cleaning, restoring, and maintaining electrical connections, switches,
controls, etc. Of course YMMV and use of these products may not fix what you
intend to fix ;-)
