I own a 92 S4 which I paid $30k for.  It was 2 years old and and had 13k
miles.  So, maybe I just got a super deal.  The performace is awesome.  The
car now has nearly 50k miles on it with no real problems.  Just the Audi
usual.  Goofy stereo display on the Auto check screen, bushings went bad at
45k miles.  And coil packs needed to be replace at 45k.  Problems yes, but
not to serious.  If you go for it, check the exhaust system for holes in the
muffler/resonator.  Check the bushings.  Other then that, I think the cars
are pretty solid.
