aftermarket intercoolers
After a quick trip with Yahoo, looking for aftermarket intercoolers, I
found out that among other things, they're damn expensive.
About the only ones I saw were GReddy ones for all the college kids running
around in Toyota twin-turbo Supras. $1000.
Oh, and then there was the Xarati(sp?) guy who put in a firebird IC the
size of a paperback novel, along with custom ductwork(from a Crown Vic) to
provide airflow. Some of the pictures showing the engine compartment were
scary(large amounts of rust and random plumbing), if not completely
bizarre(like a complete lack of a timing belt cover! Yikes!)
Are there any known intercoolers that will fit a 200q(ie, type 44)?
Also, I saw something very neat...an RX7 guy mounted some sort of radiator
fan to the intercooler!(of course, this IC was also the side of a small
table...) A very interesting modification.
Makes me wish there were another, oh, 4 inches between the timing belt
cover and the front grill :)
I also thought about a _wider_ IC; however if it cut down on airflow too
much, that just wouldn't work because the A/C and radiator would get
"starved"...
