Argh!

My 200tq won't start. I got in yesterday morning and started the car. It
idled rough and high (over 1500 RPM) for a few seconds. Then it idled lower,
and lower, and lower. Then it quit. Further attempts to start it went
unfulfilled.

This morning, we went through the same sequence of events. If this is
something I can do myself, I'd like to try. What do I check first? Fuel
pump? Filter? Something else?
