PLEASE READ - Important quattro list news
I've narrowed down the list of domain name to three.
Thanks for all your feedback.
Here's the current scenario...
1) qlist.com. Preferred by most the last time I checked. Has
the advantage of being non-trademarky, so there should be no
hassles with Audi. Cons are that it's not catchy, doesn't
say much about the cars itself.
2) audiphiles.com. My favorite. More of a play on the word
"audiophile" than a ripoff of "porschephiles.com" which also
exists. Simple, catchy, non-exclusive (gives all Audis more
of a sense of belonging, as opposed to the exclusive-feeling
"q"). Cons are that Audi may give me a hassle about it
(calls and emails have gone unanswered, so screw them),
and it's slightly longer to print on a bumper sticker.
3) fourrings.com. Again, avoids legal issues, involves all Audis,
but is long and does not roll off the tongue. Also easy to
misspell.
As far as why I want a .com address and not a .org, there are two
reasons - one, I think .org addresses are often not seen as
legitimate, and two, I will be accepting advertising only on the
web site (not in email) and I want to establish the site as a "real"
site that involves money.
The character of the list will not change. I have a lot of improvements
planned, I will be getting other people involved in the list,
and I want to expand the list to become more than a list - a club
of sorts, which is already happening (look at the Audifest effort).
So, please take the time to once again fill out the survey form.
This time select only the name you prefer among the three (I know
it lets you pick more than one).
