Could it mean that the minuitae is all the bragging that audi can do? Hey
saab bragged about APC, Honda Lean Burn Tech, Chrysler/Bosch time out
overboost, and mazda the rotary. Just putting it in perspective to one YOU
addressed in your original post regarding "those that discount the importance
of EGT" in engine management. The reasons for EGT measure, have to do with
Lambda at WOT, making it to be anything else is hardly sound thinking. The
PROBLEM is Stoichmetric Ratio (lambda = 1.00) at WOT. Can EGT address it? I
suppose. Better than others? No, not really, since lambda sensors are
responsible for Lambda values. A stopgap? Most likely. If Lambda values can
be maintained at WOT via a Lambda sensor, are EGT sensors going to stay? I
doubt it.

At the same time, let's also understand what it MEANS. What it means
simplistically is that WOT can't be effectively controlled with O2 sensors,
specifically the latest and greatest OBD compliant duallies required for that
car.

I'm an EGT skeptic, cuz we need a better O2, not an additional sensor/s.
Stoichmetric Ratio and Lambda is an O2 value, NOT an EGT value. The fact
that Audi figured a way to keep EGT's down with an EGT sensor is fine and
dandy, and it probably "beats" a fixed value DC. Given the recalls and other
problems delaying YOUR delivery of said rocket, EGT sensors is a pretty small
propaganda issue. And I suppose one could easily question the action, given
the EM problems Audi has been known to experience on the new S4 engine.

Certainly acknowleging that it IS a point, you brought it up. Understanding
WHY audi did what they did is just as important to the action, as the action.
Torsens or EGT sensor or model anouncement delays, they all are for reasons.
Let's not be wowed by Audi self promotion here. Lambda and WOT values have
been around for 20 years. EGT even more.

Your post was most interesting Randall. I just read the propaganda
differently than you, given basic knowlege of engine operating systems. My
post wasn't offensive, nor meant to be. Just an advocate for understanding
the why behind the what.

Here's to hoping you get your S4 before spring. No bets from me.
