re: after-run fan switch (more)



I had the same problem with the 87 5kq Dan.  Indeed it is the
switch at the back of the head which _starts_ the after-run fan
routine which cools the engine compartment and this is a very
good feature.  From the list I came to believe there is a relay
in the dash with a timer that shuts this system off.  I didn't
fool with this but what I did do was systematically start to
clean all the electrical connectors looking for oxidation etc.
To make it short, this did the trick and the after-run fan now
does what it is supposed to.  BTW, jumping the car in the winter
was no fun.  I began to suspect the connectors at that point.
Even though they have that nice o-ring to seal the connectors,
you'll be surprised at the corosion that occurs anyway,
especially in salt-land.  Grounds are _very_ important.
