Interstate (Re: battery questioning)

Are Interstate any good?  I thought they were, until my girlfriend's 
Saturn needed a battery.  I told her to get an Interstate, and more than a 
few people were like, "What?!  He told you to get a what?!  Those 
batteries suck!"

I was surprised, but as I had no direct experience with them, I figured I 
just was believing the marketing hype.

So, are they actually good?

I planned on getting an Optima next time myself.
