sunroof challenge
Looking for advice, BTDT on sunroof mechanics:
Just tore into my sunroof on 85 4ksq. After many attempts at adjusting
all adjustables, I've observed that the "hold down tabs" Bentley ch.60
v.2 seem to be binding (after travelling through the slot in the guide
rail) regardless of how the guide plates are adjusted. What gives?
Apparently not the sunroof. The hold down tabs bind with guide rail just
as soon as the sunroof begins to open. This binding causes the motor to
stop.
We took the hold down tabs off, and the roof now opens, although still
labored when first beginning to open. I installed new guide plates (the
old ones were broken at the back) and new roof seal (which seems to bind
some, especially in the back of the roof).
Currently, the following is not installed: stop levers and water tray,
hold down tabs, headliner spring, tilt levers and tilt lever rod. All of
these seem unnecessary for proper working (except hold down tabs?) - Any
advice on adjustment/assembly appreciated.
I'm using a friends account. Please reply to the list or Dylan Jenkins

Thanks.
