Longevity of CVJs in normal use?

Greetings!

I am contemplating the other things I will be doing to the QTC while I'm
doing the clutch and started thinking about the CV joints.  In my personal
experience of a couple dozen of the things I've never had to replace a
single one ... although I notice a bit of play in the ones on the '85 4kSQ
at 205k miles ...

I was just wondering what is the typical lifetime of the CVJs, and whether
the inner or outer style designs last about the same number of miles.  While
I have the propshaft and half shafts out are there any measurements I can
take to give an indication of wear?  The QTC has a bit over 100k miles ...
