EM studs and JazzmaTazz, the Quattro trio
Guys,
I'm not sure what experiences the rest of you have had, but I just
wanted to let you know that I was quite sucessful last night in removing
all but one of the broken studs on my 5KCSTQ head. I used a reverse
spiral drill. I also heated up the head with oxy-acetylene torches, and
I had soaked the broken studs with penetrating oil for a couple weeks.
Only one (out of about 8 that were broken) gave me much trouble, and that
one will require an insert. I don't know how you guys do this on the
car. That would be a major PITA. I had my head clamped to the
workbench while I drilled out the studs. I _know_ what you're
thinking... "no wonder he had a hard time with it!" :-)
Special thanks to Brendan Rudack for his help. He's a great
kid! (Right Scott? :-)
I saw and rode in the new PDQSHIP. Black, no badges, and 16" BBS
wheels make this one _baaaaad_ Avant! It runs pretty well too (at least
it will when he gets some more fuel)
If anyone will be in the Detroit/Flint area next Saturday (June
27th) there will be an Audi gathering at the Border's Books here in Flint
from about 8:00 until whenever. All are welcome, and as a special
treat, a fantastic local jazz trio, Jazzmatazz will perform. Two of
their three members drive Quattros, so that is why we support them. :-)
:-) :-) :-)
