Cable sleeve won't stay in place

The rubber sleeve that covers the wire bundle between the door post and
door will not stay in place on my 87 5kcs.  The door end keeps popping
out on both front doors.  I've tried fitting the end groove on the
sleeve back into the door and they seem to go into place ok but come
loose again when the door is closed and opened.  I'm thinking I will try
some kind of stickum-putty to glue them in place.  I am not ready to
remove the bundle and replace the sleeves.  Any tips on getting these
things to stay in place or do I just live with uncovered wires?
