Re: Pressure readings

Thanks to all who responded to my post concerning the boost gauge (trip
computer gauge) and the boost reading adjustment that comes with the 2.5 PT.

I have it adjusted with the TAP spring so that I am seeing 1.8 bar max (1.25 x
1.8 = 2.25) which appears to be the cutoff of the code. I am no longer hitting
fuel cutoff, though if I give the WG spring one more turn, it is too tight,
and it will cut out in 3rd. This would indicate that the gauge is reading
accurately, as 1.9 = fuel cutout.

However, I should be able to achieve this performance with the OE spring. So,
I am going to have to start checking for vac leaks/restrictions, I suppose. I
assume it is possible that my oe spring is tired out (less resistant)?

With the OE spring, the car does not spool as fast and does not feel nearly as
fast. As it sits, it is demonstrably faster than a new SL500 (raced one 5-75
in Newport Sunday). I dunno what the 0-60 times are for that car (mid/low 6),
but I you could have parked a couple A4's in the space between us at ~75.
However, with the OE spring, it sees only 1.7 bar, and does not feel *nearly*
as fast.

That said, my options appear to be:

1 - Hunt for vac leaks/troubles (replaced turbo bypass valve recently)

2 - Replace OE spring w/ new OE spring

3 - Perhaps I need to unplug the fuses for a few minutes after changing the
springs out so the engine can "forget" anything it may have learned (per
recent discussions).

4 - All of the above

5 - None of the above; _______(insert suggestion here)_______.

TIA for any further input on this. I am also pursuing a proper boost gauge.
Supposedly Jeff Goggin found a small VDO gauge that fits nicely in place of
the cigarette lighter. Any one have any other suggestions on that - good sources?

Many Thanks,

Sarge
