2 door 4000 spotted?

As I was passing through Pleasant Valley in Connecticut today I saw what
appeared to be a two door 4000, looked like mid or early 80's vintage with
slightly faded red paint. I have never seen one of these before. Are they
supposed to be rare or have I just not been seeing them? What years were
they available and what was/is under the hood?
